Would you like to embrace a role full of creative possibilities? We are looking for a unique individual that will lead and manage all aspects of Marketing and Social Media at Melbourne Animal Referral Services.

About MARS

MARS is a state of the art, purpose built facility situated in Hawthorn East, hosting our team of Veterinary Specialists.

The hospital is superbly equipped with a comprehensive array of the latest and greatest medical equipment to facilitate a world class clinical service with CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy services all available on site.

The centre is privately owned and proudly independent.

The requirements of the role

The Marketing Coordinator at Melbourne Animal Referral Service (MARS) is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to enhance the clinic's brand, attract new clients, and support client retention. There is a hands on aspect to this role, working directly with the Client Services team to enable further knowledge of our service and rapport building opportunities with our clients.

This includes managing social media accounts, creating engaging content for digital and print materials, and coordinating promotional campaigns. The role also involves organising community outreach initiatives, such as events and partnerships, to strengthen local relationships.

The Marketing Coordinator will track marketing performance, analyse results, and adjust strategies to improve effectiveness. Working closely with clinic leadership, and external marketing management this role ensures marketing efforts align with business goals and stay current with industry trends.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Content Strategy & Development

●       Working closely with the practice’s leadership and external marketing team to design content strategies that align with the practice’s goals of education, client engagement, and growth.

●       Create and update a content calendar to ensure regular communication with clients via social media, blogs, newsletters, and educational materials.

●       Conduct research on client needs, pet care trends, and relevant topics to inform content development and enhance client trust and satisfaction.

●       Stay up to date with industry trends, veterinary news, and common pet health issues to keep content fresh and informative.

●       Write engaging, compassionate, and informative content on various topics, including pet health, wellness, preventative care, and the services offered at the practice.

●       Create educational social media content and other materials aimed at both pet owners and prospective clients.

●       Repurpose existing content to make it adaptable for different formats (e.g., turning case studies into Instagram posts and captions).

Content Creation & Multimedia

●       Develop and manage multimedia content (e.g., infographics, videos, and pet care tips) to enhance engagement on social media platforms.

●       Tailor content for each platform, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and the practice website, ensuring it’s optimized for audience engagement.

Community Engagement & Social Media Management

●       Monitor engagement on social media platforms and respond to client enquiries, comments, and feedback with a friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate approach.

●       Foster a sense of community by encouraging pet owners to share their experiences and participate in conversations around pet care.

●       Highlight client testimonials, pet success stories, and behind-the-scenes content to humanize the practice and build stronger relationships with clients.

●       Help coordinate and promote educational sessions and industry events.

Content Scheduling & Optimisation

●       Oversee the scheduling and publishing of content across multiple platforms, ensuring regular and consistent content delivery.

●       Use content management systems (CMS) and social media scheduling tools to ensure content goes live as planned.

Influencer Strategy

●       Set up and manage an influencer strategy.

●       Track and monitor the impact of influencer engagement.

●       Success in this role will be defined by your ability to develop and execute content strategies that meet the practice’s business objectives, including increasing brand awareness, engaging existing clients, and attracting new clients.

●       Creating content that educates pet owners on the importance of preventative care, common pet health concerns, and the practice’s services is essential. The ability to provide useful, accurate, and empathetic information will build trust and strengthen client relationships.

●       A critical success factor will be your ability to engage the practice’s online community, encourage client interaction, and foster a loyal base of pet owners who see the practice as a trusted resource for pet care.

●       Content must be consistently published according to the content calendar, ensuring that our online presence remains active and relevant. Meeting deadlines and maintaining a reliable publishing schedule are key to success.

●       Success in this role will depend on your ability to work well with other team members—whether it’s veterinarians, technicians, or external partners.

●       The role requires someone who can analyse content performance and continuously refine strategies to improve engagement. Using tools like Google Analytics and social media insights, you will drive ongoing improvements and identify opportunities for optimization.

●       Constantly looking for new ways to present pet care information, client testimonials, and practice updates is critical. Creative ideas that stand out and engage the audience will help elevate the practice’s digital presence.

YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING

Core Competencies
Essential

●       Proven experience with social media management including content creation, scheduling, community engagement, and performance analysis.

●       Excellent writing and communication skills.

●       Basic understanding of email marketing tools.

●       Ability to write clear, informative, and engaging content for different audiences.

Desirable

●       Experience working with content management systems.

●       Content writing and editing experience. Ability to write clear, informative, and engaging content for different audiences (pet owners, prospective clients, etc.).

●       Experience creating visual content.

●       An understanding of the Veterinary industry and all it encompasses.

●       In-depth knowledge of how to manage social media accounts, create engaging posts, and respond to community interactions.

●       Ability to tailor messaging for different platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and adapt content for the needs of each.

●       Compassion and Empathy: Working in a veterinary practice requires a high degree of emotional intelligence. The ability to convey empathy through written content, especially when dealing with sensitive pet health issues, is critical.

●       Self-Starter: Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote/part-time role, staying on top of deadlines and responsibilities without constant supervision.
