The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, organising, directing and controlling the sales and marketing activities of BJP International Pty Ltd across Australia and New Zealand, with full accountability for revenue growth and profitability performance.
In addition to managing the core ANZ markets, the role requires identifying new target markets and driving expansion into selected Asia-Pacific markets, while developing strategic customer partnerships and leading commercial negotiations to support sustainable business growth.
The position has overall responsibility for developing and executing national sales and marketing strategies, establishing and expanding distribution networks, determining pricing structures, and leading the sales and marketing function to maximise revenue, margin performance, market share and customer loyalty across the company’s imported food and confectionery portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sales Leadership
- Direct the development and implementation of national sales strategies to maximise revenue growth, margin performance and customer retention across Australia and New Zealand, while supporting expansion into adjacent markets.
- Establish and set sales targets, pricing frameworks, discount structures and performance metrics aligned to business objectives.
- Determine pricing schedules and promotional strategies in accordance with market conditions and profitability requirements.
- Evaluate sales performance and implement corrective strategies to optimise commercial outcomes.
2. Marketing Strategy & Market Development
- Direct and evaluate marketing strategies to strengthen brand positioning and drive commercial growth.
- Initiate and oversee market research to identify new market opportunities across selected Asia-Pacific markets.
- Assess the marketing potential of new and existing distribution channels and retail networks.
- Develop brand-building initiatives to strengthen BJP International’s reputation as a leading importer and distributor of European products.
3. Portfolio Expansion & International Supplier Negotiations
- Identify, negotiate and onboard new international brands (primarily Poland and the EU), including commercial terms, pricing structures and distribution rights for Australia, New Zealand and selected Asia-Pacific markets.
- Conduct supplier assessments and evaluate product viability, margin structures and market potential prior to onboarding.
- Manage ongoing commercial relationships with international brand owners and manufacturers.
4. Business Development & Channel Expansion
- Establish, expand and manage national distribution networks across wholesale, retail and trade channels.
- Proactively source, pitch and convert new retail, wholesale and trade accounts to expand national footprint and revenue base.
- Negotiate and manage commercial contracts with key customers and distribution partners.
5. Organisational Policy & Process Development
- Establish and implement organisational policies and procedures relating to sales and marketing operations.
- Develop front-end and back-end processes to enhance operational efficiency, reporting accuracy and commercial effectiveness.
6. Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct regular data analysis and evaluate sales and marketing performance against predefined KPIs and financial targets.
- Prepare performance reports and recommend strategic adjustments to optimise profitability and market penetration.
7. Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, train and lead sales and marketing personnel.
- Direct sales teams in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Oversee the negotiation and execution of major commercial agreements.
8. About the Business
BJP International Pty Ltd is an importer and national distributor of premium European food and confectionery products sourced primarily from Poland. The company currently operates across Australia and New Zealand and is focused on expanding its distribution footprint, portfolio breadth and market presence into selected Asia-Pacific countries.
9. Candidate Requirements
- Relevant degree qualification in business, commerce, marketing or similar.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in senior sales and marketing management roles, including demonstrated accountability for revenue growth, margin performance, pricing strategy, distribution network development and international supplier negotiations.
- Proven track record negotiating and managing commercial agreements with major Australian retailers and/or national wholesale groups.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and managing channel-specific distribution networks across grocery, retail and e-commerce channels.
- Experience working with European suppliers; working knowledge of Polish language and familiarity with Polish business culture will be highly regarded, as supplier negotiations and product onboarding frequently occur directly with Polish manufacturers.
- Experience in international trade and import operations, particularly within the Asia-Pacific region.
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract management capability.
- Advanced analytical, forecasting and strategic planning skills.
