Cyber Security engineer Our Client is a renewable energy and development company who are seeking a highly experienced cyber security professional to lead the design, build, and implementation of an external SOC capability delivered via a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP). This role is ideal for someone who has built SOC functions before and can translate security strategy into a well-architected, operational detection and response capability across IT and OT environments. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, engagement, and implementation of an external SOC serviceDefine SOC architecture, onboarding strategy, and detection capabilityIdentify, prioritise, and onboard log sources into the SIEM (IT & OT/SCADA)Develop detection use cases, playbooks, and incident response proceduresDrive SOC effectiveness by refining monitoring, tuning alerts, and reducing false positivesAct as primary technical contact for SOC incidents and escalationsLead incident triage, containment, and response coordinationDefine KPIs and report on SOC performance and maturity upliftSupport security assessments and implement remediation actionsEnsure compliance with incident reporting and regulatory requirementsComfortable working 4 Days onsite Skills & Experience 5+ years’ experience designing, building, and implementing SOC & SIEM capabilitiesStrong background working with external/MSSP SOC modelsProven experience delivering SOC solutions in live critical infrastructure (IT & OT/SCADA) environmentsStrong cyber security engineering and security architecture capabilityExperience with firewall design and security controls (mainstream vendors)Strong detection engineering and incident management expertiseExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills Desirable: Energy or other critical infrastructure sector experience.
