Arrow Transport & Logistics is a national leader in port cartage and container logistics, operating across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Townsville.

At the centre of our operation is AOS (Arrow Operating System) - our proprietary technology platform powering transport management, real-time container tracking, fleet visibility, customer portals, automated reporting and operational intelligence dashboards.

We are entering a significant platform modernisation phase and are seeking a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead our engineering team and take architectural ownership of our core platform.

This is not a pure management role. You will lead from the front.

Applications are welcomed from candidates located in Victoria or Brisbane.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Group CTO, you will take ownership of engineering delivery, team performance and technical direction across AOS and its supporting systems.

You will have genuine influence over technology strategy, architecture decisions, tooling selection and the engineering culture we build as we scale.

Key Responsibilities

•        Lead, mentor and grow a development team of 5 - 10 engineers across onshore and offshore locations

•        Own sprint planning, backlog management and delivery cadence across the full development lifecycle

•        Serve as the senior technical authority across frontend, backend, mobile and cloud

•        Architect and drive the modernisation of our platform across React, .NET and AWS

•        Establish and enforce development standards, code quality frameworks and DevOps maturity

•        Provide technical escalation support and lead resolution of complex production issues

What We’re Looking For

Essential

•        10+ years’ software development experience across the full stack

•        2 - 5+ years in a Development Manager, Technical Lead or Solution Architect role

•        Advanced React architecture experience in large-scale enterprise applications

•        Strong .NET / C# backend expertise with production-grade API and service design

•        Solid mobile development experience (React Native or native iOS/Android)

•        Production AWS experience including ECS, containerised workloads and infrastructure management

•        Hands-on Docker and CI/CD pipeline design and implementation

•        Strong PostgreSQL and relational database design skills

•        Proven track record leading and scaling distributed development teams

Highly Regarded

•        Logistics, freight or transport technology domain experience

•        Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or similar)

•        Experience modernising legacy React or monolithic frontend applications

•        Real-time tracking, geospatial mapping or event-driven architecture experience

Why Join Arrow?

•        Strategic leadership role with genuine architectural authority and decision-making influence

•        Direct reporting line to the Group CTO with a seat at the technology leadership table

•        Ownership of a major cloud migration and platform modernisation program

•        A complex, real-world system moving freight across Australia every day

•        Opportunity to shape engineering culture, technical standards and team growth from the ground up

•        Long-term career growth as Arrow’s technology function continues to expand

This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact technical leadership role where you will directly shape the future of technology within a national logistics operation.
