About the Role

South Eastern Transport Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Computer Network & Systems Engineer to design, implement and maintain the organisation’s enterprise network infrastructure supporting refrigerated transport operations and cold chain monitoring systems.

Our operations rely on connected refrigeration technologies, IoT-based monitoring devices and real-time communication between refrigerated trailers and central monitoring platforms. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security and performance of the organisation’s network and systems infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Network Architecture & Infrastructure Engineering

 Analyse organisational requirements and design scalable network architecture to support

operational systems.

 Design and implement LAN/WAN infrastructure to support enterprise operations and

remote monitoring systems.

 Configure and deploy network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points.

 Implement VLAN segmentation and secure network access controls. Systems Engineering & Integration

 Develop and maintain systems supporting cloud-connected refrigeration monitoring

platforms.

 Integrate IoT-enabled refrigeration sensors with central monitoring servers.

 Maintain server infrastructure and databases supporting temperature monitoring and

operational data systems.

Network Monitoring & Performance Optimisation

 Monitor network traffic, usage and performance to ensure system reliability and operational efficiency.

 Implement network monitoring tools and proactively identify potential system failures.

 Analyse system performance metrics and recommend improvements to optimise network reliability.

Cold Chain Monitoring Systems

 Configure and maintain remote temperature monitoring systems used in refrigerated

transport operations.

 Manage data communication between refrigeration controllers, IoT gateways and central

monitoring platforms.

 Ensure real-time monitoring of temperature, humidity and equipment status across

refrigeration systems.

Secure Connectivity & Communications

 Configure VPN tunnels and secure remote connectivity for distributed refrigeration systems and operational sites.

 Maintain cellular and IoT gateway communications used by refrigerated trailers.

 Ensure reliable data transmission between mobile refrigeration units and central servers.

Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution

 Diagnose and resolve complex network infrastructure issues and system failures.

 Investigate connectivity issues affecting monitoring systems and IoT sensor networks.

 Provide advanced technical support to internal operational teams to maintain system

availability.

Network Security & Compliance

 Implement and maintain network security frameworks, access controls and system security policies.

 Monitor network activity to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.

 Ensure organisational network systems comply with internal security standards.

Documentation & Technical Reporting

 Maintain network architecture documentation, configuration records and system diagrams.

 Document network upgrades, system changes and infrastructure improvements.

 Prepare technical reports regarding system performance, reliability and recommended

upgrades.

Required Skills and Experience

 Strong experience in enterprise network engineering and systems administration

 Experience configuring and managing network infrastructure including:

o Routers

o Switches

o Firewalls

o VPN connectivity

o VLAN configuration

 Experience designing and maintaining LAN/WAN networks

 Experience implementing network monitoring and performance optimisation solutions

 Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

 ACS Skills Assessment is highly desirable

Desirable Technical Skills

 Experience with IoT sensor networks and connected monitoring systems

 Knowledge of cloud-connected device infrastructure

 Experience supporting remote monitoring platforms

 Experience integrating industrial or operational monitoring systems

Experience Requirement

 Minimum 2 years of experience in computer network engineering, systems administration or related roles.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field:

 Computer Network Engineering

 Information Technology

 Computer Systems Engineering

 Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
