POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position title: Out of School Hours Team Leaders and Casual Educators

Time fraction: Incorporating split shifts and longer shifts during vacation care

Reports to: These positions report to the School Age Care Director

Location:  61 Thames Boulevard Werribee (Head Office) - Educator position will be located at one of our School Age Care sites within Wyndham, Laverton and Altona.

WHO WE ARE:

Quantin Binnah Community Centre Inc. is a not-for-profit, registered charity Centre that offers a variety of services and programs to local residents of Wyndham and Hobsons Bay and the surrounding communities. These include Playgroup, Little Kinder, Kindergarten, Long Day Care, Before School Care, After School Care, Vacation Care, Adult Community and Further Education, a variety of Community Development programs, Maternal and Child Health services and Cafe QB.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

Quantin Binnah is seeking qualified, passionate, well-organised Team Leaders and Educators, to support the provision of quality education and care in a stimulating environment for school age children. This may include Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care.

JOB SUMMARY FOR TEAM LEADERS

To coordinate the development and implementation of the OSHC and vacation care programs to primary school age children.  Along with Team members, you will support the development of a safe, varied and interesting school age care program incorporating before school, after school and vacation care programs, and support positivity and cohesiveness among educators, children, their families and the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  1. Plan and support the delivery of a quality, inclusive, activity based - School Age Care program suited to the children’s social, physical, emotional, intellectual and creative developmental needs.

  2. Appropriate behaviour management and communication strategies, which are implemented to both reinforce positive behaviour and modify inappropriate behaviour.

  3. Ensure all children have a sense of belonging, regardless of background, culture, needs and ability. Adhere to QB Policies, Child Safe Standards and compliance.

  4. To liaise with families regarding the Out of School Hours Care Program.

  5. Undertake relevant training and professional development (including regular supervision) appropriate to the role.

  6. Complete administration tasks as prioritised.

  7. Use all QB resources in line with organisational policy.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Diploma of Early Childhood or Diploma of School Age Care or currently studying Diploma of Early Childhood or Diploma of School Age Care.

  2. A passion for delivering quality inclusive care to school age children.

  3. Flexible and Personal Approach.

  4. Excellent organisational skills.

  5. Team Player and excellent communication skills.

  6. Casual Educators must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week (preferred Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

DESIRABLE

Diploma level qualified and experience working in an Out of School Hours Care Program or working with school age children.

Must be willing to travel within Wyndham, Laverton, Altona and Newport.

Additional requirements

  • Police checks are mandatory for all new appointments.

  • A working with Children Check (EMPLOYEE) is required for all new appointments.

  • Foundations of Child Safety Training Certificate.

  • Successful completion of Mandatory Reporting eLearning Module.

  • Current Driver’s License, desirable.

  • Current First Aid HLTAID012 Certificate.

  • Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training.

  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.

REMUNERATION & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The successful applicant will be employed under the Educational Services Children’s Services Award. Successful candidate will eligible for and can utilise Salary Packaging. The rate of pay will be negotiated in relation to qualifications and experience.
