Position Description

Business Systems & IT Coordinator
(Assistant to Systems Manager)
Position Purpose
The Business Systems & IT Coordinator provides day-to-day technical support and coordination for business systems across plant and office environments. The role acts as the primary point of contact for IT-related matters, ensuring operational issues are quickly triaged, resolved, or escalated as required.
Working closely with the Systems Manager, the position supports the reliable operation of key production, dispatch, and business systems while assisting with system improvements, hardware rollouts, and vendor coordination.
The role is hands-on and suited to someone comfortable working across both office IT environments and operational plant systems.
The ideal candidate will be technically curious and interested in understanding how business systems work behind the scenes, including exposure to SQL databases and operational software platforms.
Key Responsibilities

  1. Primary IT Contact for the Business
  • Act as the first point of contact for IT and systems issues across all sites.
  • Receive and triage support requests from plant staff and office users.
  • Troubleshoot common issues relating to:
    • Production system PCs
    • Thin clients
    • printers and docket printers
    • network connectivity
    • user access and login issues
  • Escalate complex issues to the Systems Manager or external IT providers.
  1. Operational Systems Support
Assist in maintaining the reliable operation of critical business systems including:
  • Concrete dispatch and batching systems
  • Production and order management systems
  • Accounting and document management platforms
  • SQL-based reporting and operational data systems
Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting users experiencing system issues
  • Assisting with configuration updates and minor system changes
  • Monitoring system performance and reporting anomalies.
  1. Hardware & Site Infrastructure
Support the installation, maintenance, and replacement of operational IT equipment including:
  • Production system PCs
  • thin clients and terminals
  • network equipment
  • printers and scanning devices
  • batching plant interfaces
This may involve occasional site visits to coordinate installations or resolve hardware issues.
  1. Vendor & Support Coordination
Work with external IT and software vendors to support the business technology environment, including:
  • logging and tracking support requests
  • coordinating remote vendor access where required
  • ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.
  1. User Access & System Administration
Assist with routine system administration tasks including:
  • creating and managing user accounts
  • setting user access permissions
  • configuring new workstations
  • assisting with system updates and maintenance.
  1. Documentation & Process Support
Maintain clear documentation to support operational continuity including:
  • common troubleshooting procedures
  • hardware configuration standards
  • user setup procedures
  • system access protocols.
Assist the Systems Manager with documenting new systems and processes as improvements are implemented.
  1. Support System Improvements
Assist the Systems Manager with the rollout of system improvements and technology upgrades, including:
  • new hardware deployments
  • system upgrades
  • software transitions
  • operational process improvements.
This may involve testing, documentation, and assisting with user training.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Experience in IT support, systems coordination, or technical administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows environments.
  • Practical understanding of:
    • computer hardware
    • networks and connectivity
    • printers and peripheral devices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both operational staff and technical vendors.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple support requests.
Desirable Experience
  • Exposure to SQL Server environments.
  • Experience supporting operational or industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with thin client environments.
  • Experience working with third-party IT providers and software vendors.
Personal Attributes
  • Practical and solutions-focused.
  • Comfortable working in both office and plant environments.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Reliable and methodical in documenting and resolving issues.
  • Calm and patient when assisting operational staff under time pressure.
