Section overview

The Radiation Protection Services (RPS) Section is responsible for the provision of a suite of commercial services which protect workers and the public from the harmful effects of radiation. This includes the monitoring and reporting of ionising radiation doses, the radiofrequency calibration of instruments and the testing and endorsement of a range of ultraviolet protective fabrics, films and glasses. The Section maintains accreditation to ensure delivery of high quality and traceable scientific services to the Australian community. Customer management provides specific market position with growth opportunities

Primary purpose of the role

ARPANSA provides a comprehensive occupational dosimetry service for Australian and international customers, the Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS). The Service is supported by a quality assurance program that is accredited by NATA to AS/ISO 17025.

ARPANSA is seeking an enthusiastic individual to undertake the role of Science Officer. In collaboration with leadership team, you will contribute to the further evolution of scientific services available to PRMS customers. Providing high level support to the Assistant Director, Personal Radiation Monitoring Services, you will be responsible for the leadership of the quality assurance program, undertaking scientific investigations of monitoring and dose assessment methods and assisting with dose assessments as well as providing support to the senior management of the Service. You will also be required to undertake a wide variety of measurements and tests on parameters associated with radiation monitoring and the continuous quality improvement of the Service.
