About the role
We seek an Assistant Production Chemist, for a full-time role, to work in our QC chemistry team on day shift, based in Ringwood.
Reporting to the Production Chemist, this role will be responsible for supporting the production of GC Columns within our business and would focus on the following:
Wet lab and analytical chemistry work:
- Synthesis and purification of existing polymer materials to match performance requirements.
- Characterization of the polymer stationary phases synthesized using Gel-Permeation chromatography and other techniques as FTIR, TGA as required.
- Preparation of test mixes used in GC-column testing.
- Manufacturing, testing/evaluation of capillary columns
Documentation and Administration
- Inventory management of chemicals and synthesised materials.
- Assisting the production Chemist in the development of procedures for the reproducible synthesis of phases.
- Assistance in all relevant areas with performance and quality issues for all GC Column products.
·The ideal candidate will possess:
- A recent Bachelor of Science graduate or related discipline.
- Capability in scientific method, design of experiment and associated documentation
- Experience within a GMP/ISO environment and batch manufacturing processes would be an advantage.
- An underlying understanding of and some experience in the areas of gas and gel permeation chromatography.
- Proven knowledge of common synthetic methodologies used in polymer chemistry and ability to work independently in a synthetic laboratory.
- Root cause analysis and troubleshooting, with high degree of problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate well at all levels within and outside the company.
Ability to work both independently and within a group as required.
Methodical and meticulous approach to work with an eye for detail
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and those inherent to the use of chemicals
