Quality Assurance & Compliance Supervisor

Laverton, Victoria | Full Time

Drive Quality. Lead Compliance. Make an Impact.

Vic's Premium Quality Meat (VPQM) and its Entities are among Australia's most respected premium meat processors and suppliers, serving retail, foodservice, wholesale and export markets across the country.

Our reputation has been built on uncompromising quality, food safety, customer service and operational excellence.

We're now looking for an exceptional Quality Assurance & Compliance Supervisor to join our Laverton team and take ownership of quality, food safety and regulatory compliance across our Victorian operations.

This is not a role for someone who simply maintains systems.

We're looking for a high-performing, solutions-focused professional who identifies risks before they become problems, drives continuous improvement and holds themselves and others to the highest standards.

If you're the type of person who sees opportunities where others see obstacles, we'd like to hear from you.

About the Role

Based at our Laverton facility and reporting to the CEO, you will lead quality assurance, food safety and compliance activities across processing operations while supporting compliance requirements across retail stores and online sales channels throughout Victoria.

You will play a critical role in protecting the VPQM brand by ensuring our products, processes and people consistently meet regulatory, customer and business requirements.

You will be responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance across processing operations, retail stores, distribution activities and online sales channels, including:

  • PrimeSafe licensing requirements

  • HACCP food safety programs

  • Australian Standard AS4696

  • Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) requirements

  • Animal welfare obligations

  • Online food sales and direct-to-consumer fulfilment requirements

  • Cold chain and distribution controls

  • Internal quality and compliance standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with relevant food safety legislation, regulations and industry standards

  • Maintain site audit readiness at all times

  • Manage regulatory reporting obligations and compliance documentation

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Maintain and continuously improve HACCP programs and food safety systems

  • Monitor critical control points and verification activities

  • Oversee environmental monitoring, microbiological and product testing programs

  • Ensure quality documentation, specifications and records remain accurate and compliant

  • Investigate quality incidents and implement effective corrective actions

Audit Management

  • Lead internal, external, customer and regulatory audits

  • Manage corrective and preventative actions through to completion

  • Conduct root cause investigations and drive sustainable improvements

  • Monitor compliance performance and identify opportunities for improvement

Traceability & Product Integrity

  • Manage traceability and product recall systems

  • Conduct mock recall exercises

  • Ensure product identification, labelling and documentation requirements are maintained

  • Protect product integrity throughout processing, storage and distribution

Retail & E-Commerce Compliance

  • Support food safety, quality and compliance standards across VPQM retail store operations

  • Conduct compliance reviews and verification activities across retail locations

  • Monitor compliance requirements associated with online sales and direct-to-consumer fulfilment

  • Ensure food labelling, allergen declarations and consumer information requirements are maintained

  • Support temperature control and cold chain compliance throughout storage, transport and delivery processes

  • Assist in managing quality incidents, customer complaints and product recalls affecting retail and online channels

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

  • Deliver food safety and quality training across the business

  • Coach leaders and employees on compliance responsibilities

  • Drive a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement

  • Partner with operational teams to improve quality, compliance and business performance

  • Lead initiatives that improve systems, reduce risk and strengthen operational outcomes

What Success Looks Like

We're looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership and follows through

  • Focuses on solutions rather than problems

  • Has exceptional attention to detail

  • Identifies risks before they become compliance issues

  • Is proactive, driven and results-focused

  • Thrives in a fast-paced operational environment

  • Builds credibility through action and accountability

  • Understands that quality and compliance extend beyond the processing facility into retail stores, distribution networks and online sales channels

  • Maintains a strong customer focus while protecting product integrity, food safety and regulatory compliance

  • Effectively manages compliance risks across multiple operational environments

At VPQM, we value people who make things happen.
