About the Role
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced safety professional to lead the Safety Management System, and education that underpin safety performance across one of Victoria’s most complex health services.
Make a tangible contribution to our Health, Safety and Wellbeing team in this vital leadership role. Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you’ll be accountable for translating and communicating strategic safety objectives into operational safety management systems and practices across the health service.
Leading a team of five specialists, you’ll work closely with peers across the Safety, Injury Management and Wellbeing teams to embed a consistent, evidence-based approach to safety management at an organisational level.
With a broad scope of responsibilities, your key focus areas will include:
Based in Cheltenham or Clayton, the role has organisation-wide reach and accordingly travel across Monash Health will be required. Flexible work arrangements are also available.
About you
You are motivated by the opportunity to work collaboratively with operational colleagues “on the ground” to help ensure that our safety systems and mechanisms firmly underpin both our duty of care obligations and Board governance requirements, and also meet frontline requirements.
Bringing significant safety systems experience in large, complex organisations, you can demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of audit, assurance and risk as they relate to safety. You readily build effective, sustained working relationships and your written communication skills enable you to prepare accurate, concise reports up to and including executive level. Further, you enjoy leading a team to build capability and realise its full potential.
You will also bring something unique, a genuine commitment to simplification. Our frontline staff are busy, skilled and saturated with information. Your job is to make safety easy to do, meaningful and not hard to navigate. That means stripping complexity from processes, cutting document burden, and designing communications that people act on rather than file away.
What you need
Experience in a healthcare, emergency services, aged care or other high risk, regulated environment is desirable.
