Empower Obstetrics & Gynaecology is seeking a motivated clinician to join our growing specialist private practice. We are open to interviewing suitably experienced Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives who are committed to undertaking Nurse Practitioner studies, with support and opportunities for professional development as the practice expands.

At Empower Obstetrics & Gynaecology, you will work closely with our specialist doctors to support patients throughout pregnancy, postnatal and other gynaecology journeys. This flexible part-time role offers a blend of clinic-based and remote work, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining work-life balance.

About the Role

As a key member of our clinical team, you will provide patient education, clinical triage, care coordination, antenatal and postnatal support, and assist with specialist consulting sessions when needed. You will act as the primary clinical liaison between patients, administration staff and specialists, ensuring patients receive timely, compassionate and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Support & Clinical Triage

  • Provide telephone and electronic support to obstetric and gynaecology patients

  • Triage patient enquiries and escalate concerns appropriately

  • Deliver pregnancy, postnatal and post-operative advice within scope of practice

  • Assist with communication of results and coordinate timely patient review

Antenatal & Pregnancy Care

·         Conduct antenatal support via telehealth were appropriate

  • Review patient histories and health assessments

  • Provide education regarding pregnancy, nutrition, antenatal screening and maternity care pathways

  • Support patients throughout pregnancy and assist with care coordination

Third Trimester & Birth Preparation

  • Discuss birth planning and patient preferences

  • Educate patients regarding signs of labour and hospital admission processes

  • Support preparation for birth and postnatal care

Postnatal & Lactation Support

  • Conduct postnatal wellbeing reviews

  • Provide feeding options and support

  • Assist with wound and perineal assessments within scope

  • Support new mothers and families through the postnatal period

Gynaecology & Surgical Care

  • Assist with colposcopy clinics and specialist consulting sessions when needed

  • Provide patient education

  • Conduct post-operative follow-ups

  • Assess recovery progress and escalate concerns as required

Clinical Support

May include but not limited to:

  • Blood pressure assessments

  • Urinalysis

  • Weight and general observations

  • CTG monitoring

  • Fetal wellbeing assessments as directed

  • Immunisation and Anti-D coordination

  • Assisting specialists during consultations and procedures

Essential Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife

  • Current professional indemnity insurance

  • Demonstrated experience in women's health, obstetrics and/or gynaecology

  • Excellent communication and patient-centred care skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a specialist practice setting

  • Current driver's licence and reliable transport

  • Smartphone

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Endorsed Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife actively pursuing or willing to undertake Nurse Practitioner studies

  • Interest in advanced practice and prescribing responsibilities

  • Lactation Consultant qualifications or experience

  • Experience using Genie Medical Software

  • Experience working within a private specialist practice
