Site Accountant – Major Manufacturing Site | Leading Food Producer | Melbourne Western Suburbs

A key opportunity to join a large national food manufacturing business with a major production footprint. This role sits at a high-volume site in Melbourne’s western suburbs, supporting end-to-end financial operations and driving disciplined, insight-led site performance.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Operations Finance, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting that informs both operational and strategic decisions. You will safeguard financial governance, strengthen site-level controls, and provide analysis that helps optimise performance across production, costing and inventory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare timely financial and operational reports with variance, cost-driver and performance analysis.

  • Maintain accurate costings and Bills of Materials, supporting pricing reviews and margin optimisation.

  • Oversee fixed asset management including asset registers and capital expenditure governance.

  • Lead month-end close activities, journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations with insightful commentary.

  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, reporting and provisioning, including oversight of slow/obsolete stock.

  • Partner with production teams to analyse operational data, identify efficiency opportunities and support performance improvement.

About You
  • Degree-qualified with 5+ years’ experience in food manufacturing or FMCG

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, and deep understanding of production data, systems and financial controls.

  • Excellent communication skills and advanced excel modelling skills
