The Role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our fast-paced Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing purchasing activities to ensure raw materials, packaging, and operational supplies are available when needed to support production and business operations.

Working closely with Production Planning and the wider Supply Chain team, you will coordinate supplier orders, maintain accurate purchasing records, monitor inventory levels, and help ensure materials are procured efficiently and on appropriate terms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raising and managing purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies

  • Monitoring open purchase orders and proactively following up with suppliers on delivery schedules

  • Maintaining accurate purchasing records within the ERP/MRP system

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and service providers

  • Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery conditions within approved guidelines

  • Monitoring inventory levels to prevent shortages while minimising excess stock

  • Supporting supplier performance monitoring including delivery and quality compliance

  • Resolving invoice and purchase order discrepancies with suppliers and Finance

  • Assisting with supplier onboarding, compliance documentation, and supplier reviews

  • Identifying opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise supply arrangements

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be detail-oriented, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.

You will ideally bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.

  • Experience with import procurement including customs documentation and Incoterms.

  • Knowledge of Australian food regulatory environment (FSANZ) and supplier certification standards (BRC, SQF, HACCP).

  • Exposure to S&OP or integrated business planning processes.

  • CIPS membership or working towards CIPS qualification.

  • Experience working in a similar role in a fast-paced environment, previous purchasing experience in an FMCG business strongly preferred.
