We are a well-established and growing cabinet making and manufacturing company specialising in the manufacture and installation of high-quality kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, and custom-made joinery.
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring our factory and projects operate efficiently through effective purchasing, stock control, supplier management, and coordination of incoming and outgoing goods.
The successful applicant will work closely with our Production, Set-Out, Estimating and Projects teams to maintain smooth day-to-day operations across the business.
Key Tasks & ResponsibilitiesPurchasing of all materials, hardware, consumables and tools as requested by the Production Manager and/or Set-Out Department
Tracking of all incoming goods (materials, hardware, tools and consumables)
Tracking of all outgoing goods (materials, hardware, tools and consumables)
Tracking all client-related incoming deliveries including whitegoods, ovens, rangehoods and other fixtures and fittings
Checking and reconciling purchase orders to ensure delivery of goods
Reporting deliveries of all incoming goods to relevant departments including Production, Projects and Set-Out
Re-ordering stock of commodity goods based on set re-order levels
Conducting monthly stocktakes of materials and hardware within the factory
Ensuring adequate stock levels of consumables and commodity goods including screws, hinges, drill bits, glue, silicone, sandpaper and other factory supplies
Stocking assembly benches with required consumables
Stocking flat-pack pallets with relevant hardware as advised by Production and/or Set-Out
Maintaining preferred supplier lists and supplier price lists
Following company purchasing procedures including obtaining quotations, negotiating pricing and supplier selection
Obtaining a minimum of three quotations for project-based purchases exceeding $500
Negotiating supplier rebates and discounts
Forwarding delivery dockets, invoices and purchase orders to Accounts
Maintaining and monitoring company vehicles including fuel usage, kilometre tracking, condition reporting and servicing requirements
Coordinating vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs
Providing pricing and product advice to Estimating, Production, Projects and Set-Out teams when required
Arranging repairs and maintenance for tools and machinery
Ensuring adequate stock levels of blades, cutters, glue and other machine consumables for CNCs, edge banders, beam saws and panel saws
Assisting with all other duties as required by management and team leaders
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Previous purchasing, procurement, stores or inventory experience
Experience within cabinet making, joinery, manufacturing or construction industries highly regarded
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Competency with computer systems, purchase orders and stock management
A proactive and team-focused attitude
