Chef Operations Manager  (Food Manufacturing) - Monday - Friday

Location - Northern Suburbs

Hours of Work - Monday - Friday, no weekends.

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Hospitality professional to join our team as an Chef Operations Manager. 

It is essential to the role that the successful applicant can demonstrate proficient experience in Aged Care, and Contractual obligations with local government clients.

The successful applicant will be prepared to work hands on along side the production team as well as manage the operation.

Trade Certificate in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality qualifications or equivalent.

Key Attributes required for the position:

  • Experience and understanding of the VIC Food Authority Legislation and Aged Care Accreditation process

  • Possess the ability to develop strong and effective client relationships.

  • Use initiative and show exceptional leadership skills

  • Able to remain calm under pressure creating a collaborative and productive energy across the team

  • Managing teams and time management in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written

Key Criteria:

  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a managerial role within a food manufacturing/production environment

  • Trade Certificate in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality qualifications or equivalent

  • Management experience specialising in cost management, labour controls, and marketing 

  • Previous experience in the contract catering industry is a must

  • The ability to lead, motivate, direct teams and work independently

  • A strong understanding of budgeting, effective rostering and cost management

  • Professionalism and accountability along with personal values

  • Ability to have paperwork entered on time and accurately

  • Ensure obligations of Food Safety Plan are met on a daily basis

  • Sound understanding of Food Processing/Manufacturing environments and HACCP

  • Customer relationship focused, speaking directly to and meeting with them from time to time

  • Sound understanding of OH&S and best practice in food manufacturing

  • Have a strong understanding and experience in the mass production

  • Have experience with planning work requirements and organising the team to ensure that daily  targets are achieved

  • Oversee stock control by monitoring ingredient requirements and wastage

  • Ensure all products are finished to the product specifications

  • Has fundamental understanding of Business Administration

  • Lead in monitoring, reviewing identifying and implementing processes to drive continuous improvement activities through the execution of best practice

  • Weekly meetings with management team including weekly reporting

Lead your team -

  • Lead food production team by example being prepared to work on the line with your team as required

  • On-board all new starters and encourage growth and multi-skilling of your team

  • Demonstrated skills/experience in leading high-performing teams

  • Supervise employees according to the production schedule, report any significant deviation from plan with a supporting reason to the Group Leader

The successful applicant will have -

  • Relevant experience in a food manufacturing/production including cook/chilled foods experience

  • Skills to maintain KPIs in relation to safety, quality

  • High attention to detail and strong communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Advanced Excel skills & experience

  • Sound business acumen

  • Hands-on leadership style and the ability to build and motivate strong and efficient teams

  • Exceptional organisation skills and time management

  • Experience in managing a team of people.

  • Process driven
