The Role
APS 3 Logistics Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve straightforward logistics inventory management work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to understand and comply with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
An APS 3 Logistics Officer will work established priorities and procedures, while exercising some autonomy about how their work is performed. They may prioritise and manage their workflow and produce work that is subject to routine monitoring by more senior Defence employees. They may undertake specialist, procedural, clerical, administrative support or operational tasks including some basic research and analysis activities to support their work unit.
An APS 3 Logistics Officer may be required to provide some limited supervision and support to Defence employees at lower classifications.
The APS 3 Logistics Officer may be required to liaise and apply standard procedures to meet stakeholder requirements and achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
About our Team
Working within the Logistics Cell in the 5th/6th Battalion, the Royal Victoria Regiment, the team’s primary function is to ensure the effective management of equipment, stores, and supply chain operations to maintain operational readiness for training and deployment activities. WThe Logistics Cell supports both routine and field-based logistics tasks, contributing directly to the capability and preparedness of the Battalion. Their work aligns with Defence’s broader mission by enabling efficient resource utilisation, compliance with logistics governance, and support to force generation objectives.

Our ideal candidate is a reliable and motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a keen eye for detail. They will have experience or training in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations, ideally within a Defence or structured environment. The candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, be proficient in using ICT systems and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. A proactive approach to problem solving, a commitment to Defence values, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are essential. General fitness and a willingness to support forecasted field activities is desirable.
