The Opportunity
Mancala is looking for an experienced Purchasing Officer to support the procurement and supply chain requirements of our operations across Australia.
Reporting directly to the Procurement and Supply Chain Lead, this full-time role is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services, managing supplier relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring materials are delivered on time and within budget.
Working closely with operations, maintenance, project management, and finance teams, you will play a critical role in supporting business performance through efficient procurement practices, cost control, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supply Chain
Source and purchase goods, materials, equipment, and services to support operational requirements.
Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing activities to maintain operational continuity.
Forecast purchasing requirements based on operational demands and project schedules.
Expedite urgent orders and resolve supply chain issues when required.
Supplier & Contract Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, and secure favourable commercial terms.
Monitor supplier performance, delivery timeframes, and service levels.
Support tendering activities and supplier evaluations.
Maintain accurate supplier records, agreements, and procurement documentation.
Cost Control & Reporting
Monitor procurement expenditure and ensure purchasing activities align with approved budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and procurement efficiencies.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and pricing information.
Prepare procurement reports, expenditure tracking, and supplier performance metrics.
Provide regular updates to management regarding purchasing activities and supply risks.
Operational Support
Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to source critical spare parts, tools, and services.
Support preventative and reactive maintenance requirements through timely procurement.
Ensure purchased goods meet operational specifications and quality standards.
Assist with inventory management and stock optimisation initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Support procurement strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
Contribute to process improvements and supply chain efficiencies.
Promote environmentally responsible purchasing practices where practical.
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and relevant compliance requirements.
Participate in audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a highly organised and proactive procurement professional with strong commercial awareness and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
You will bring:
Previous experience in a Purchasing Officer, Procurement Officer, or Supply Chain role.
Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience using procurement, ERP, or purchasing systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Sound understanding of inventory management and supply chain principles.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience within mining, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or operational environments.
Experience with inventory management and procurement reporting systems.
