Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Logistics Specialists play a vital role in the success of Amazon Web Services by providing the right part, in the right place at the right time. Your contribution to this success would be maintaining the onsite parts room in AWS Data Centers, by managing the custody of computer hardware through their entire lifecycle. This involves receiving parts, safely storing parts, picking and delivering parts to hardware technicians, cycle counts, and shipping faulty hardware back to the vendor.

You will work closely with Data Centre Operations and Engineering teams to ensure reliable functioning and repair activities to support our customers, while adhering to our operational tenants of safety, security and availability.

Key job responsibilities
  • Maintaining inventory to ensure that proper stock levels are managed to support build and repair activities.
  • Physically receiving and issuing out of parts as needed for internal customers.
  • Loading, unloading and transporting parts between different sites.
  • Keeping accurate stock records for all items within our care through physical cycle counts.
  • Maintaining safety, organization, and cleanliness of all workspaces using Amazon 7S principles.
Travel
  • The role may require the successful candidate to travel to other sites in the Melbourne metro area to assist in conducting cycle counts, receiving stock into the inventory control system, replenishing stock and returning defective stock. Travel between sites will require own transport, all travel related costs will be reimbursed.
Physical / Environmental Demands
  • Amazon Operates with a principle of safety first. With this principle, we take significant care to ensure all employees operate in a safe manner and have appropriate tools to support them in undertaking their roles safely.
  • Loading and unloading shipments.
  • Standing, sitting, and walking (including stairs) for prolonged periods of time.
  • Willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend and kneel.
  • Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
  • Push or pull heavy objects of up to 16kg into position and participate in group lifts of 20kg or more.
  • Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.
  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in an office and warehouse environment where the noise level is low to moderate.
A day in the life

The MEL Data Center Logistics team, part of AWS's DCESPS organization, supports infrastructure deployment across Melbourne's data center cluster. We manage the end-to-end logistics lifecycle — receiving, ingesting, inventory management, and cycle count accuracy — ensuring critical components are available to keep builds on track. Our culture is built on ownership, continuous learning, and bias for action. We’ve developed a structured training program that accelerates onboarding and equips new members to contribute quickly. Operating across multiple MEL sites, we embrace start-up challenges as opportunities to build scalable processes. Our work directly enables AWS to serve millions of customers worldwide.

Your day will be spent carrying out Logistical support functions for our Data Centers. This will involve physical control and processing of spare parts transactions, consumables stock replenishment, and cycle counting of stock.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience as a logistics professional supporting inventory cycle counts, shipments, maintenance, stock control functions and reverse logistics.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of logistics operations experience.
