Duration: ASAP start - 17th July 2026 | Temporary contract

Rate: $51.95 – $73.47 per hour + super

Hours: 38 hours per week

Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s northern suburbs to recruit an experienced Operations Management Project Manager for an exciting temporary opportunity through until July 2026.

This role will see you supporting the delivery of key waste and operational projects that will have a direct impact on community services and future waste management initiatives.

We are looking for a confident and solutions-focused project professional with experience leading operational projects from planning through to implementation and adoption. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to support project delivery, change management activities and continuous improvement outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering and implementing waste service‑related projects, including new Kerbside Waste policy initiatives, Waste Management Plan guidelines and Waste Audits
  • Supporting change management activities including communications, training and stakeholder engagement
  • Analysing large data sets and identifying trends to support operational decision making
  • Preparing project documentation including briefs, tenders, progress reports and handover notes
  • Providing specialist advice and support to project teams to ensure successful project delivery and embedding of processes
Key Criteria
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications OR demonstrated experience delivering projects in an operational environment
  • Substantial project management experience with the ability to lead projects through to delivery and adoption
  • Experience translating policy into practical operational processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and technology capabilities
  • A customer‑first approach with a focus on delivering quality outcomes
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
