Persian Halal Market is an established Melbourne-based supermarket and grocery business supplying a broad range of grocery products, pantry items, imported food products, meat products, household goods, and culturally diverse retail products to the local community.

The business operates in a fast-moving retail and inventory environment where stock availability, supplier coordination, product sourcing, purchasing accuracy, and inventory continuity are essential to daily operations.

Due to continued business growth, increasing supplier coordination requirements, expanding product categories, and the ongoing need to maintain reliable stock availability across the store, the business is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support purchasing activities, supplier sourcing, procurement planning, inventory coordination, and supply-chain support functions.

The Procurement Specialist will support the business by coordinating procurement activities associated with supplier sourcing, purchasing workflow, stock replenishment, procurement documentation, inventory reporting, and supply continuity across supermarket and grocery operations.

This is a practical specialist role suited to a procurement and supply professional with experience in supplier communication, purchasing coordination, inventory monitoring, stock movement, procurement reporting, and operational supply support within inventory-based business environments.

The successful applicant will work closely with management, suppliers, warehouse personnel, store operations, and relevant internal staff to support accurate purchasing, timely stock availability, and smooth procurement workflow across multiple product categories.

Task & responsibilities

-    Coordinate procurement and purchasing activities associated with supermarket stock and operational supply requirements

-    Support supplier sourcing, vendor communication, and purchasing coordination across grocery, imported goods, meat products, household goods, and general inventory categories

-    Monitor inventory movement, stock availability, and replenishment requirements to support store operations

-    Assist with procurement planning and purchasing workflow based on operational demand, stock movement, and supplier availability

-    Prepare, maintain, and organise procurement documentation including supplier records, invoices, purchasing files, and inventory-related reports

-    Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse personnel, store teams, and management regarding stock requirements and delivery follow-up

-    Support procurement reporting, stock monitoring, purchasing administration, and inventory coordination activities

-    Assist with identifying supply gaps, stock issues, supplier delays, and purchasing requirements affecting operational continuity

-    Support logistics coordination and product movement activities associated with supplier deliveries and operational stock requirements

-    Maintain organised supplier and purchasing records to support accurate procurement processes and business reporting

-    Assist with supplier relationship coordination and follow-up activities aligned with business purchasing requirements

-    Contribute to stock continuity and procurement efficiency across the supermarket’s daily operations


Qualification & experience

Applicants must demonstrate:

-    Practical experience in procurement coordination, purchasing operations, supplier sourcing, inventory coordination, stock monitoring, or related supply-focused environments

-    Experience working in inventory-based businesses such as supermarkets, grocery operations, retail supply businesses, warehouses, manufacturing businesses, wholesale environments, or distribution-focused operations

-    Strong ability to coordinate supplier communication, purchasing activities, delivery follow-up, stock replenishment, and procurement documentation

-    Experience supporting procurement reporting, purchasing administration, stock control, and inventory-related operational processes

-    Strong organisational capability and ability to manage multiple purchasing and supplier-related priorities

-    Practical understanding of inventory movement, stock availability, and supply continuity in fast-moving operational environments

-    Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, operational staff, warehouse personnel, store teams, and management

Operational & Supply Capability

The following experience will be highly regarded:

-    Experience supporting purchasing or procurement activities within inventory-heavy retail or supply environments

-    Experience coordinating supplier communication, purchasing documentation, and stock replenishment processes

-    Experience supporting warehouse coordination, stock monitoring, logistics follow-up, or inventory reporting activities

-    Ability to work within multicultural operational environments and customer-focused business settings

Language & Communication

-    Ability to communicate effectively in English to perform day-to-day procurement, supplier coordination, purchasing administration, inventory monitoring, and workplace communication activities 

-    Ability to prepare and maintain routine procurement records, purchasing documentation, and operational correspondence in English 

-    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with suppliers, operational staff, warehouse personnel, and management 

-    Additional language capabilities may be considered advantageous where relevant to supplier communication, multicultural workplace environments, and operational coordination activities

Qualifications

-    Qualification, vocational training, or directly relevant practical experience in procurement, purchasing, inventory coordination, supply operations, warehouse operations, retail operations, or related operational environments will be highly regarded

-    Substantial directly relevant practical experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
