Annual Salary: 80,000 to 85,000 plus 12% Super

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Butcher to join our team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, trimming, and presenting a range of meat products while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cutting, trimming, boning, slicing, and preparing meat products including beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and other specialty meats.
  • Preparing meat portions according to customer and business requirements.
  • Maintaining product quality and presentation standards.
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stock rotation and inventory control.
  • Operating and maintaining meat processing equipment and tools safely.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Packaging, labelling, and displaying meat products for sale.
  • Providing professional customer service and product recommendations.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Butcher.
  • Relevant trade qualification in Butchery (Certificate III in Meat Processing or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of meat preparation, cutting techniques, and food safety requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time (38 hours per week).
  • Knowledge of Australian food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
