About the Role

Economical Air is seeking a skilled and experienced Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, and repairing a wide range of airconditioning and refrigeration systems in accordance with Australian standards and industry best practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and commission airconditioning and refrigeration systems, components, and equipment.
• Diagnose faults in refrigeration, airconditioning, and ventilation systems using testing instruments and service manuals.
• Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, valves, and control systems.
• Connect refrigeration piping, perform pressure testing, evacuating, and refrigerant charging in accordance with regulations.
• Inspect, maintain, and service systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer instructions for installation and repair work.
• Install and connect electrical components, thermostats, and control panels for system operation.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance on commercial and residential HVAC systems.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and environmental regulations, including refrigerant handling requirements.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients regarding system performance, repairs, and upgrades.
• Maintain service records, job sheets, and reports for all completed work.
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines and service schedules.

Skills and Requirements

• Relevant trade qualification equivalent to Certificate III or IV in Airconditioning and Refrigeration.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Valid refrigerant handling licence (where required).
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
