We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welder (First Class) to join our growing team. The successful candidate will perform high-precision welding and fabrication duties in accordance with Australian Standards and engineering specifications. This role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to interpret detailed drawings, and demonstrated experience in structural steel fabrication and welding processes.
The Welder (First Class) will be responsible for:
• Studying blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Preparing and setting up welding equipment and selecting appropriate welding techniques.
• Performing high-quality welding using MIG, TIG, Stick and other relevant welding processes.
• Welding metal components in flat, vertical and overhead positions.
• Cutting, shaping and joining metal sections using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• Examencing welds for width of bead, penetration and precision, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
• Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and smoothing welded surfaces.
• Assembling fabricated components and structures as per technical drawings.
• Conducting repairs and maintenance on metal structures and fabricated components.
• Ensuring compliance with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) regulations at all times.
• Inspecting final welded assemblies to ensure structural integrity and quality standards.
• Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent).
• At least 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience as a Welder (First Class).
• Demonstrated experience in MIG, TIG and arc welding techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Knowledge of metal properties and fabrication processes.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of Australian welding standards and WHS regulations.
• Physically fit and capable of working in a workshop environment.
