About the Role

We are a busy bakery in Dandenong seeking a qualified and experienced Pastry Cook to join our production team. The successful applicant will be responsible for the preparation and production of a wide range of bakery and pastry products in accordance with standard recipes and production requirements.

Key Duties

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties consistent with the ANZSCO definition for Pastry Cook (351112):

• Prepare and bake breads, buns, rolls, pastries, and other bread-based products

• Prepare, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes

• Monitor dough fermentation, proofing and baking processes

• Operate commercial bakery ovens and equipment

• Decorate, fill and finish baked goods when required

• Maintain product quality, portion control and consistent presentation

• Monitor stock usage, rotate stock and order supplies as needed

• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work areas and storage spaces

• Comply with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements

• Work effectively as part of a kitchen/production team to meet production targets

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience working as a Pastry Cook

• Relevant bakery or pastry qualification (Certificate III or higher) or equivalent

• Demonstrated ability to prepare and bake a range of products

• Knowledge of commercial baking methods and equipment

• Sound understanding of food safety standards and workplace safety

• Ability to work in a high-volume production environment
