Motor Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic (Automatic Transmission and Brake Mechanic)

The Opportunity

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on petrol and diesel vehicles.

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and driveline components.

• Inspecting, testing, dismantling, repairing, and replacing worn or defective vehicle parts and components.

• Conducting brake repairs, transmission repairs, clutch replacements, and engine rebuilds where required.

• Diagnosing and repairing diesel engine systems, fuel injection systems, turbochargers, exhaust systems, and cooling systems.

• Using diagnostic tools and computerised equipment to identify vehicle faults.

• Carrying out roadworthy inspections and ensuring vehicles meet safety standards.

• Performing tyre fitting, wheel balancing, and alignment checks.

• Maintaining accurate service records and repair documentation.

• Communicating effectively with customers regarding repair requirements and maintenance recommendations.

• Ensuring workshop cleanliness, safety compliance, and adherence to company procedures.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or equivalent qualification.

• At least one year of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic.

• Current Australian Driver Licence.

• Ability to obtain or provide a National Police Check if required.

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

• Experience working with petrol and diesel engines.

• Sound knowledge of automatic transmissions, braking systems, steering and suspension systems.

• Experience using diagnostic software and electronic testing equipment.

• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems used in modern vehicles.

• Ability to repair, service, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

• Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
