ABOUT SNM CONSULTING

SNM Consulting is a trusted Australian HR consultancy headquartered in East Perth, Western Australia. We provide practical, tailored HR solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients across industries including construction, automotive, aviation, hospitality, mining, and professional services — nationally and internationally. We partner with our clients as a trusted extension of their team, assisting them with experienced HR guidance and support when they need it most.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a newly created position within SNM Consulting, established to support the Director and the broader team as the business continues to grow. This is a remote role based from a professional CBD office environment in Melbourne, working closely with our East Perth head office via Microsoft Teams.

The Senior HR Coordinator will be the operational backbone of the business — assisting with policies and procedures, supporting back-end HR functions, and providing recruitment support across the SNM portfolio. With two SNM clients based in Melbourne, there may also be the occasional opportunity to attend local client sites to take HR briefs and support client engagement directly.

The Director is predominantly client-facing and on-site with clients. This role is delivered with a high degree of autonomy — you will manage your own workflow, meet deadlines independently, and maintain SNM's high standards without day-to-day supervision. This position is part-time, Wednesday to Friday (3 days per week).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policies and Procedures

  • Assist in the drafting, reviewing, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures for SNM and its clients.

  • Support the review and maintenance of policies to keep them current and aligned with relevant Australian employment legislation.

  • Support the Director in the annual policy review cycle, including award update periods (1 July and 1 January).

  • Maintain version control of documents.

Back-End HR Operations

  • Assist in internal and client HR administration, including assisting with employment contracts and documents where necessary.

  • Support compliance and audit activities as directed by the Director.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records.

  • Assist with the preparation of HR reports, correspondence, and advisory notes.

Client Engagement

  • Attend Melbourne client sites to take HR briefs and support client engagement as directed by the Director.

  • Liaise professionally with client contacts, maintaining SNM's reputation as a trusted HR partner.

  • Prepare client-facing documents, including advisory notes and correspondence, to SNM's standards.

Recruitment Support

  • Assist with end-to-end recruitment activities including drafting job advertisements and position descriptions.

  • Support candidate screening, shortlisting, and coordination of interviews.

  • Prepare recruitment documentation including offer letters and onboarding materials.

  • Liaise with clients regarding recruitment briefs as the role develops.

ABOUT YOU

Essential

  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in an HR coordinator or HR generalist role.

  • Demonstrated experience in policy and procedure drafting and maintenance.

  • Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards, and Australian employment legislation.

  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision — this role is self-directed and remote.

  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable working via Teams.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.

  • Experience working in an HR consultancy or multi-client environment.

  • Exposure to recruitment and selection processes.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A collaborative, experienced team with 45+ years of combined HR expertise.

  • Direct reporting line to the Director.

  • Variety across industries and clients — no two days are the same.

  • Professional Melbourne CBD office base.

  • Part-time Wednesday to Friday — genuine work-life balance.

  • The opportunity to grow with a trusted, nationally operating consultancy.

HOW TO APPLY
