Mulla's Truck Repairs is seeking a qualified and motivated Motor Mechanic to join its workshop in Tullamarine, Victoria. The successful applicant will diagnose, service and repair trucks and trailers, perform preventative maintenance and utilise modern diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify mechanical faults. The role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of heavy vehicles in a busy workshop servicing transport operators and commercial fleets.

Task & responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in trucks and trailers using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on heavy vehicles.
  • Repair and maintain diesel engines, braking systems, steering, suspension, transmissions and driveline components.
  • Test, dismantle, repair and replace defective mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Conduct inspections to identify maintenance requirements and ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
  • Operate diagnostic scan tools and other specialised workshop equipment to identify faults.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair reports and workshop documentation.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians to deliver efficient, high-quality repair and maintenance services.

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent trade qualification.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience as a Motor Mechanic, preferably with experience servicing and repairing trucks and trailers.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, steering, suspension, transmissions and other heavy vehicle components.
  • Ability to carry out preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced workshop environment while maintaining workplace health and safety standards.
  • A current driver's licence and heavy vehicle experience.
