About the role

P & R Commercial Refrigeration is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Campbellfield, VIC. This is a pivotal role within our organisation, where you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems. As a Refrigeration Mechanic, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our clients' operations run smoothly by maintaining and servicing critical refrigeration equipment. Your expertise will be essential to delivering high-quality service and maintaining our reputation as a trusted provider of commercial refrigeration solutions.

Key responsibilities

1. Install, commission, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems for a diverse range of clients

2. Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration equipment faults using specialised tools and diagnostic equipment

3. Perform routine maintenance and servicing on refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance and longevity

4. Repair and replace faulty components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems

5. Conduct gas handling and refrigerant management in compliance with environmental and safety regulations

6. Respond to emergency service calls and provide timely solutions to minimise client downtime

7. Document all work completed, including service reports and maintenance records

8. Liaise with clients to understand their refrigeration needs and provide professional advice on system optimisation

9. Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all work activities

10. Support the team by sharing knowledge and assisting junior technicians where necessary

What we're looking for

1. Current refrigeration mechanic certification or equivalent qualification recognised in Victoria

2. Valid refrigerant handling accreditation

3. Current Victorian REL licence

4. Proven experience working with commercial refrigeration systems, preferably in a maintenance or service capacity

5. Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics, and electrical systems

6. Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, pressure gauges, and specialised refrigeration tools

7. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when diagnosing and repairing equipment

8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

9. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to clients clearly

10. Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites across the region

11. A commitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance

12. Preferred experience with computer-aided diagnostic systems and familiarity with common commercial refrigeration brands
