We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate horticulturist to join our team as a Garden Maintenance Supervisor.
About us:
Ian Barker Gardens is responsible for creating some of Melbourne's most admired gardens. We nurture outdoor spaces that enhance and elevate clients' lives through reliable and expert horticultural care.
We are looking for someone who:
Has prior experience in the same or a similar role with demonstrated knowledge in ALL areas of gardening (including plant knowledge)
Experience in residential garden maintenance
Is passionate about horticulture and has an eagerness to learn and develop their skills as well as lead and impart knowledge to other employees, especially apprentices
Is a supportive team player who helps to foster a culture of collaboration to achieve the best outcomes for our clients' gardens
Has a Certificate III in Horticulture or Parks and Gardens
Has sound pest, disease and irrigation knowledge
Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
Maintains a high professional standard by taking an organised and efficient approach to tasks and responsibilities, and can problem-solve when required

No weekend work - we understand the importance of maintaining a happy work/life balance, and you'll only work Monday – Friday, 7.30 am – 4 pm

What you can expect your days to look like:
Complete general garden maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, mulching, hedging, irrigation repairs, pest and disease identification and control
Take ownership of your own client list and the progression of the gardens you are working in
Be a part of a positive team environment with a willingness to share your skills and knowledge with apprentices
Our team works exclusively in the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne (Canterbury, Camberwell, Kew, Hawthorn, Toorak, etc.)
