The Role
Tesla is seeking an experienced electrical technician to maintain and service a utility-scale battery site, primarily focusing on the Tesla Megapack battery storage product. In this role, you will join the technician team responsible for supporting battery storage sites throughout the Victorian region, where you will service, troubleshoot, and upgrade medium to high voltage equipment.

Please note this position will primarily be based within the suburb of Plumpton, however occasional travel to support other regional sites may be required.
Position Description
As an Electrical Technician, you will troubleshoot and repair equipment as defined by the service engineering team. You will perform complex and precise electro-mechanical debugging, rework, and repairs, executing tasks that require a high level of skill and patience. Your role will involve actively working across a Powerpack and Megapack Utility site to ensure that operations and maintenance requirements are met, maintaining a healthy fleet that performs optimally. Comfort and competence in working with Medium and High Voltage environments while maintaining a strong focus on safety will be crucial.
You will operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and LV/MV/HV testing equipment for effective diagnosis and troubleshooting. Additionally, you will develop and adhere to best practices and procedures for various maintenance activities related to Tesla Energy equipment. Clear communication is essential, as you will maintain high levels of communication and feedback within the Tesla Energy service organization by preparing daily updates on work completed, problems identified, and future timelines.
Flexibility is key, as you may be required to provide support outside your region and potentially internationally. You will also perform other related duties as assigned to accommodate our growth and diversification across applications.
Requirements:
Certified Electrician (Cert III (3)+ in Electrical/Electro Technology)
Minimum 5 years’ experience, with at least 3 years’ electrical experience, ideally within the Utility sector (Solar/Wind/Transmission experience is preferred)
Must have up to date Electrical Registration/License
Must have HV switching experience
SCADA operating experience is a plus
Must be able to work from complex and detailed documentation and/or verbal and written instructions depending on situation
Strong computer skills, ability to utilise proprietary and 3rd party OEM software
Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings
Willingness to work outdoors, occasionally on the road at unusual hours
Valid driver’s license required
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, test equipment
